"Shining Stars" of Disability Advocacy Ensure Civil Rights, Full Participation in Community Life

Pittsburgh offers excellent quality of life for people with disabilities, thanks to the advocacy of many dedicated organizations and individuals. These advocates -- our "shining stars" -- ensure that government, schools, health care, and other sectors of the community not only observe the basic requirements of the Americans with Disabilities Act, but create an environment of respect and inclusion for people of all abilities. Their goal is for every member of our community to have resources and opportunities for an active and meaningful life.
