- Programs that make a difference. With a commitment to build strong children, strong families and strong communities, the YMCA serves more than 80,000 people each year in the Pittsburgh area with a wide range of programs and social services, including health and wellness programs, childcare, recreational facilities, food pantries, computer training, drug and alcohol counseling, senior services and children's summer camps.
- Community Investments. More than $16.5 million in investments to improve and expand YMCA facilities have bolstered the development of our communities. Recent renovation and construction in Homewood-Brushton and the Hill District brought state-of-the-art facilities and improved services to two drastically under-served local neighborhoods. Two new buildings in the downtown area are an integral part of the city's plans to revitalize the central business district.
- Healthy Communities. The YMCA works with local businesses to encourage healthier lifestyles of Pittsburgh employees. Partnerships with several companies provide employees and community residents with convenient on-site fitness facilities, wellness programs, health assessments and personalized fitness planning.
- International Outreach. Like all of Pittsburgh, the YMCA has a global outlook. Through international partnerships, Pittsburgh volunteers have worked with groups of Muslims, Jews and Christians to bridge cultural divides and traveled to South Africa to develop a day camp for orphaned children.
