The Pittsburgh Parks Conservancy Improves Quality of Life by Helping to Restore the Park System to Excellence
The Pittsburgh Parks Conservancy is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization whose mission is to improve quality of life for the people of Pittsburgh by restoring the park system to excellence in partnership with the City. The organization formed in 1996 and signed a written partnership agreement with the City of Pittsburgh in 1998. The Parks Conservancy conducts capital and ecological restoration projects in Frick, Highland, Riverview and Schenley – and in other city parks and green spaces as time and resources permit. The organization is building an endowment and initiates no new projects until funds have been raised.

The Conservancy has raised more than $40 million and has completed nine showcase capital projects, including:
- The Reynolds Street gatehouse entrance to Frick Park
- The restoration of the Schenley Park Visitor Center
- The creation of the Highland Park Babbling Brook
- The ecological restoration of the Phipps Run natural area in Schenley Park
- The restoration of the Highland Park Entry Garden
- Schenley Plaza
- The Highland Park Seasonal Pools
- The restoration of the Riverview Park Chapel Shelter and its surrounding landscape
- The restoration of the Mary E. Schenley Memorial Fountain
