Synopsis
Landmarks Community Capital Corporation (LCCC) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit subsidiary of Pittsburgh History & Landmarks Foundation (PHLF). LCCC provides capital, development expertise, and pre- and post-technical assistance to development projects in distressed communities within a 250-mile radius of Pittsburgh. In addition, LCCC provides access to capital and technical assistance for businesses through an innovative public/private partnership. LCCC's programs encourage sustainable community development and promote entrepreneurship. With a history of successes in distressed communities in the Pittsburgh region, LCCC is collaborating with groups in West Virginia, Cleveland, and Erie to replicate its core community and economic development programs.
Overview
LCCC helps to drive economic and community development through its initiatives and financial and technical assistance programs. LCCC's financing programs are designed to assist experienced community development corporations and organizations undertaking significant development projects. By providing below-market interest rates, LCCC offers capital at the early stages of projects when financing is difficult and flexibility in the financial structuring of requests, thus allowing for greater cash flow necessary for successful developments.
LCCC's parent company, PHLF, is restoring four buildings that had become dilapidated under the City's ownership, in Market Square, the heart of downtown Pittsburgh. The project is meant to be a model development showing how urban communities across the United States can restore and "green" their buildings, and how these buildings can contribute to the revitalization of their downtown centers. A documentary video is being produced to be distributed nationwide.
Pittsburgh has been a favorite destination of film production companies because of its diverse topography, interesting architecture, and economical work atmosphere. Over the last ten years, Pittsburgh garnered nearly $100 million dollars in measured economic impact. To increase potential revenue, it is necessary to develop the appropriate physical infrastructure. LCCC in partnership with Mogul Mind Studios is developing over 330,000 square feet of property in the Strip District/Lawrenceville area of the City where Mogul Mind will be able to house production's operations. Presently there is an agreement with 20th Century Fox to produce "Unstoppable" a movie starring Denzel Washington.
