American Eagle Outfitters Headquarters Creates a Fashion Hub in the Heart of Pittsburgh's SouthSide Works Where Steel Once Reigned
Founded in 1977, American Eagle Outfitters, Inc. is a $3 billion apparel and accessories company. Rapid growth drove the company to reconsider its home office and distribution center in Warrendale, PA. Complete relocation was a distinct possibility, and every major city in the U.S. was on the table. After compiling the pros and cons of cities east, west, and in between, AEO stayed in Pittsburgh. This year, AEO, Inc. completed its corporate headquarters at the SouthSide Works, built on a brownfield site formerly occupied by steel mills and blast furnaces. American Eagle Outfitters attracts talent from all over the country.

Several years ago, rapid growth drove the company to reconsider its home office and distribution center in Warrendale, PA. Complete relocation was a distinct possibility, and every major city in the U.S. was on the table. The company carried out an extensive search that evaluated all options from government incentives, to talent acquisition to associate quality of life. After compiling the pros and cons of cities east, west, and in between, AEO stayed in Pittsburgh.
The SouthSide Works development was selected based on criteria such as ease of commute, opportunity for growth and a strong lifestyle and cultural fit for associates. This year, AEO, Inc. completed its corporate headquarters campus, built on a brownfield site formerly occupied by steel mills and blast furnaces. Where molten steel and glass once traversed over the Hot Metal Bridge, now young, fashion-minded professionals make their way to work at one of the world's leading specialty retailers.
American Eagle Outfitters recruits from all over the country, while retaining talented Pittsburghers who want to remain, or return, here. Approximately 1,000 associates work in the region at key business functions including merchandising, marketing, store operations, supply chain and logistics.
